Budget Book Tabs

The tabs are named and color coded in order of priority.  The first three categories (Charitable Giving, Pre-Tax Savings, Taxes) are subtracted from your gross income to get the Net Spendable Income (N.S.I.). The remaining tabs are for expense categories and are arranged in order of priority.  Get a copy of the Budget Book forms and the file "Using the Budget Organizer" to learn how to set up a budget.

Charitable Giving - The Tithe is the acknowledgement that God is the owner and you are the steward (manager).  Giving is the only way to keep the channel of blessings open to you and those around you.

Pre-Tax Saving - Riches, wealth, success, are represented by purple.  When you reach the point that you are investing for the long-term, you can say that you have made it.  With your financial foundation in place, your financial future is only a matter of time. (see SAVING)

Green Tabs should be paid EVERY month

Savings - Pay yourself first.  This is the number one expense category and the most important.  The main purpose for the budget is to protect your savings.  Savings are the way you reach your goals and get ahead.

Housing - Whether it's a single family home or an apartment, a warm place to hang your hat is a top priority.  Keep this bill up-to-date.

Food - Man can not live on bread alone but it is a proven fact that he can't live without it either.  Shop smart!

Auto - Unless you live and work in the heart of a major city (New York, Chicago, etc.) you will need transportation to get to work to make the money that buys the food and pays the rent.

Yellow Tabs represent categories that can be reduced TEMPORARILY while you get your budget set up

Clothing, Medical Health, Life Insurance, Personal, Entertainment/Recreation

The RED Tab represents DEBT and should be eliminated!

Debt - Consumer debt keeps you from getting ahead.  Debt makes you a slave and robs you of your future.

White Tabs are provided for "Other" categories you choose to set up.

Other - There are two "Other" tabs for things such as school, business or any special concern.
